BOZCAADA, TURKEY
Just off the Turkish mainland, this tiny island is
an unspoiled haven of cobblestone streets,
vineyards and diverse architecture. The main
fortress reflects influences from Byzantine,
Venetian, Genoese and Ottoman empires and
the hilltop lighthouse offers amazing Aegean
Sea views.
SKOPELOS, GREECE
Legend says Skopelos was created by Dionysus
because of its history of wine. Today, the isle is
popular for its appearance in the film, Mamma
Mia; its historically preserved Pelion-style houses;
Folklore Museum; local honey; and more than
360 churches.
PÁTMOS, GREECE
According to myth, Artemis and Apollo entreated
to Zeus to raise Pátmos from the sea. It is a
UNESCO World Heritage Site important to
Christian history. A monastery overlooks a cave
believed to be where St. John wrote the biblical
Book of Revelations.
