Legend says Skopelos was created by Dionysus
because of its history of wine. Today, the isle is
popular for its appearance in the film, Mamma
Mia; its historically preserved Pelion-style houses;
Folklore Museum; local honey; and more than
360 churches.
PÁTMOS, GREECE
According to myth, Artemis and Apollo entreated
to Zeus to raise Pátmos from the sea. It is a
UNESCO World Heritage Site important to
Christian history. A monastery overlooks a cave
believed to be where St. John wrote the biblical
Book of Revelations.
