The winning try
Nantes conjures certain flights of fancy and visits to this place are
often extraordinary. In the beautiful city beside the Loire, an enor-
mous elephant can sometimes be seen carrying tourists on its back
and squirting water at passers-by.
Right beside it, on the regenerated site of some former naval
boatyards, a giant carousel invites passengers aboard weird and
wonderful creatures.
