To mark the occasion, the Bataille de Fromelles Museum invites
you to a temporary exhibition on rugby players and their role
during the First World War.“The game for which they had been
preparing for so many years” ; so read a front-page headline from
The Timesin 1919, as rugby paid a heavy sacrifice during the great
war. The exhibition explores a wide range of themes associated
with this painful period and the sport with the oval ball : anec-
dotes, little snippets from history never told before and indeed
biographies of the rugby players who saw action on the field of
