stories and history of the area.
See Norway in a new light
It tops so many travellers’ wish lists: a chance to experience the
Northern Lights. The mysterious dancing arcs, ripples and rays
of light cast an eerie glow across the Arctic sky. In the winter
months, our cruises travel north along Norway’s dramatic
coastline to the fringes of the Arctic Circle in search of the aurora
borealis. Due to their unpredictable nature, we can’t guarantee
a sighting, but you can expect a once-in-a-lifetime adventure…
Imagine scenery that will knock your socks off; reindeer and
huskies; cable cars and railways; Viking lands; waffles, ice cream
and cheese (not necessarily on the same plate); and possibly
some snow. From the mountain scenery of Åndalsnes to the
Arctic beauty of Tromsø… this is a holiday that will shine on in
your memory.
Chasing the Northern Lights in Tromsø
Join a unique experience ashore where you’ll wrap up warm
and set out in search of the world-famous, ethereal Northern
Lights. Having analysed the weather forecast in advance, your
experienced guides will take you out into the wilderness to the
spots where you’re most likely to find the dazzling aurora borealis
on your night in Tromsø.
If you’re lucky enough to see ‘Mother Nature’s light show’
it may take the form of faint wisps of colour or dancing,
shimmering curtains of light over the boreal forests and tundra.
Venturing to different viewpoints, you’ll find that conditions
can vary greatly in a small geographical area and can change
quickly. Along the way, your guides will explain why the lights
occur and you’ll stop to enjoy hot chocolate and cookies as
you gaze into the expansive sky.
Look out for the Northern Lights symbol on cruise holidays
from October to March.
