An inspiring hub of creativity
Saint-Étienne is the only French city to have been awarded a
UNESCO Design label. The city has a creative quarter and a Design
City inside a former munitions factory that has now become an
exhibition space and site of cultural innovations.
Another powerful draw in this creative city is the fact that it is
Europe’s biggest Le Corbusier site : there are several buildings
designed by the French architectural genius here.
Beyond their love of creativity, the Stéphanois (as the locals are
known) are sport-lovers at heart and make no secret of their love
of a certain sport that involves a round ball.
While the Rugby World Cup is on, though, their mania
for sporting competition will certainly make itself
felt in the stadiums and in the city!
